If you remember from my earlier post, I admit that I find maternity shoots a tad bit cheesy – but that doesn’t stop me from doing them. πŸ™‚ If you’re on the fence about whether or not you want to have them done, here’s my 2 cents:

  • This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment that you will NEVER get back. Why not capture it, even if it’s only for your family to see?
  • Maternity photographers are PROS – they’ll help you find your best angles and guide you through the process to make you feel comfortable. Most importantly, they’ll make sure you look good. Even if you don’t think you have that pregnancy glow – trust me, you do!
  • After months on end of feeling not so cute, it’s a nice way to treat yourself in that home stretch. We’re talking new outfit, hair done, nails done, maybe a special new piece of jewelry… TREAT YO’ SELF.
  • It actually is a really nice date with your significant other. I don’t know about you, but with all these pregnancy hormones and mood swings, it can be hard to find time to really focus on your partner and enjoy some time together. For me, I felt like it kind of forced us to stop, take a moment out of our busy lives, and spend an afternoon daydreaming about the sweet little baby coming our way very soon.

Here are some of my favorite shots from the maternity shoot we recently did with the amazing Mike Arick of Mike Arick Photography.Β The shoot actually landed on our sixth wedding anniversary, so we took them in a park across the street from the venue we got married at in Huntington Beach, California. (Originally we tried to take them AT the venue, but turned out there was a wedding that day, and we felt a little conspicuous creeping around with me in a long white dress).

CREDITS: My dress is from a darling Australian brand called Fillyboo Maternity – it’s the Strawberry Fields gown in cream.
